Following a cosmic performance EMMY has been chosen to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, having emerged victorious on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special on RTÉ One last night, following a nail biting national final!

The artist, from Norway, will now travel to Basel in Switzerland in May, where Ireland will compete in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, bidding to qualify for the grand final on Saturday May 17.

Denzel Washington Wasn’t Happy With One Of His Oscar-Winning Performances – SlashFilm

He’s considered one of the greatest actors of our time, yet even Denzel Washington has issues with some of his most rewatchable performances – including one that earned him an Oscar. According to “The Book of Eli” writer Gary Whitta, Washington confessed that in the late 2000s, he felt somewhat annoyed by the final act of “Training Day,” particularly the now-iconic speech in which he declared how very little s*** King Kong had on his character, Alonzo Harris.

During an appearance on “Kinda Funny Gamescast,” Whitta recounted the surreal conversation of picking the best Denzel Washington films with Washington himself. While Whitta’s top choice was “Man on Fire” (coincidentally, it was Washington’s as well), “The Book of Eli” directors, the Hughes Brothers, who were also present, ranked “Training Day” at the top of their list. As Whitta recounted it:

“And Denzel started thinking, ‘Yeah, it was a good one,’ but he said, ‘The only thing about that is, if I could go back and do it again, that last scene at the end when I go on about ‘you’ll be playing basketball in Pelican Bay’ and ‘King Kong ain’t got s*** on me,’ that whole thing, is I would hit that harder — like much harder.’” From there, the award-winning actor did the unthinkable and performed the climactic speech again right then and there, in front of Whitta and the Hughes Brothers — and rightfully, they just looked on in disbelief.

  • Shameless Kanye shares vile swastika T-shirt and calls it his ‘greatest art’

Shameless Kanye shares vile swastika T-shirt and calls it his ‘greatest art’

SHAMELESS Kanye West has shared a vile swastika T-shirt he had “wanted” to make “for years” after his sick social media rampage.

Ye, 47, claimed to “love Hitler” and labelled himself a Nazi in Friday’s X rant alongside declaring he has dominion over his wife and calling for his “idol” Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to be freed from jail.

The rapper has spent hours over the past two days relentlessly posting various grotesque messages online – most of which have stirred up controversy.

The latest anti-Semitic post put out by Kanye shows a vile T-shirt with the swastika sign on the front.

The rapper called it his “greatest performance art” in his foul caption accompanied with a picture of the T-shirt.

It is displayed in the same fashion as other items on his fashion company Yeezy’s website, with what appears to be a fake code for the T-shirt at the bottom which is HH-01.

After receiving backlash from the post, he posted again saying: “IM NOT GONNA DO ALL THIS WORK TO SAY WHAT THE F*** I WANT AND THEN NOT SAY WHAT THE F*** I WANT.”

Another defensive post read: “PARDON ME I MEANT F*** EVERYBODY KEEP BROKE OPINIONS TO A MINIMUM LIKE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.”

Early on Friday alone, Kanye posted more than 50 times, from calling himself “racist” to bragging about wife Bianca Censori’s nude Grammys look, before going quiet at around 7:00AM.

More than eight hours into the unhinged rant Kanye said “IM A NAZI” and “I LOVE HITLER”.

A follow-up deranged tweet saw him say: “Hitler was sooooo fresh.”

He later added: “I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE F*** ANTI SEMETIC MEANS.”

In 2022, Kanye was widely condemned for similar comments which were described as “hateful” and “inexcusable”.

He was dropped by brands including GAP and Adidas over the anti-Semitic comments.

He doubled down on these remarks in an appalling rant during a masked interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones where he proclaimed “I like Hitler”.

Concerns online today continued to intensify following more posts where West spoke on his wife Bianca.

A concerning comment said: “I HAVE DOMINION OVER MY WIFE THIS AINT NO WOKE AS FEMINIST S***.

“YES I DONT MAKE HER DO NOTHING SHE DOESNT WANT TO BUT SHE DEFINITELY WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL.”

Kanye and Bianca made headlines earlier this week when they appeared on the Grammys red carpet.

Censori rocked up almost naked in an “invisible couture dress” as Kanye stood beside her in an all-black causal outfit.

Kanye and his wife Bianca, 30, made headlines earlier this week when they appeared on the Grammys red carpet.

Censori rocked up almost naked in an “invisible couture dress” as Kanye stood beside her in an all-black causal outfit.

And in Ye’s latest X frenzy post, he slammed critics as “dumb” and “lame” while also self-congratulating himself for supporting her “personal expression” on the red carpet.

The rapper said: “Anyone who called my wife’s Grammy look a stunt is dumb and laaaame yes youuuu.

“She been dressing naked for 2 years now all of a sudden it’s a stunt.

“Every single b**** on the planet wish they had her bravery body platform and access to money and a husband that supported they personal expression.

“There are a lot of things that had to converge for this moment to happen.”

Kanye also wrote that he has “dominion” over his wife Bianca in another concerning post, adding that “THIS AINT NO WOKE AS FEMINIST S***”.

Alluding to the Grammys outfit, he said: “YES I DONT MAKE HER DO NOTHING SHE DOESNT WANT TO BUT SHE DEFINITELY WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL.”

Kanye started his foul-mouthed posting spree on X by pleading with newly-inaugurated President Donald Trump to free Sean “Diddy” Combs despite the looming allegations against the music mogul.

The 54-year-old is currently locked up and awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges – all of which he denies.

The first of dozens of deranged Kanye posts simply read: “FREE PUFF.”

He wrote a similar message on Instagram.

In another, Ye tagged President Trump and begged: “PLEASE FREE MY BROTHER PUFF.”

Kanye and Trump have had a warm relationship in the past with the pair growing close in the run up to the Republican’s first election win in 2016.

They were pictured together in The White House in 2018 with Trump describing Ye as a “complicated” but “really nice guy”, last year.

Ye’s posts continued on for hours with a concerned Kanye saying in one that Combs has been “rotting” in jail.

The Graduation rapper called him his “idol” and “hero” as he urged his celebrity pals to support the jailed music mogul because he “gave his life to us”.

Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and racketeering is set for May 5.

Ye caused further controversy on Thursday when he announced plans to sell merchandise from a joint project between the pair.

On the Yeezy website, Kanye showed he is now selling a series of Sean John shirts in red, white, blue, black and gray for just £17 each.

Sean John is a fashion lifestyle company created by Combs back in 1988.

Ye described it a business arrangement between the rapper duo which he alleges was agreed to prior to Combs’ spell behind bars.

A social media post from Ye said: “YEEZY SEAN JOHN COLLAB AVAILABLE @ YEEZY.COM ME AND PUFF SPLITTING THIS 50/50 LIKE WE DISCUSSED BEFORE THEY LOCKED HIM UP.”

Combs’ Instagram account – believed to be run by his family – shared a screenshot of Kanye’s X post alongside the caption: “Thank you to my brother @Ye.”

The post is just one of nine uploaded to Diddy’s Instagram with almost all of them coming in the past six months.

The messages continued late into the night with many of them going on to reference unfounded claims about Combs’ case.

He accused the criminal justice system of trying to “make an example out of Puff” and said he wanted to find out who was “after” the hip-hop icon.

One of his final messages read: “PUFF WE LOVE YOU.”

Combs was first arrested on September 16, in Manhattan by Homeland Security on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.

He has been holed up in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center ever since.

Across the past few months, Combs has been hit with dozens of additional civil lawsuits for rape and assault including against children as young as 9.

He vehemently denies all the allegations.

It comes as reports are suggesting Kanye is pouring all of his energy into a fashion and music comeback after returning to the US from Japan.

He reportedly started to plan his return following Trump’s seismic election win and arrived in America after the inauguration last month.

In January, Kanye posted on X: “Trump’s back in office. Ye’s back a billionaire. The world might just be ok.”

Denzel Washington reveals shock injury that’s affecting his acting

Denzel Washington is crediting his faith in God for a recent accident not being worse than it was.

The Training Day star, 70, said he almost bit his tongue off recently and it’s affecting his work.

The Oscar winner is preparing to play Othello on Broadway opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and revealed his tongue is still swollen, making some of his lines hard to enunciate.

‘I have a line: “Whither will you that I go to answer this your charge?” It’s hard because my tongue is swollen,’ he told the New York Times. ‘It has affected everything.’

Nearly biting off his tongue also served as a moment for the Gladiator II star to reflect on his relationship with God.

‘That’s why you pray every day,’ he explained. ‘I’m like, “OK, Lord, I’m here, I think this is what you wanted me to do.”

The Remember the Titans actor didn’t elaborate on how he injured his tongue or if he received any medical treatment for it.

Washington was asked if he believed acting as a profession helped people and he again turned the conversation to God.

‘At this point, everything I’m doing is through the lens of what God thinks, not what they think. I don’t know what they think,’ he said.

‘You go down that hole, you’ll never come out of that. When people say, ‘What do you want people to get from this movie?’ or ‘What do you want them to get from this play?’ I always say, ‘It depends upon what they bring to it.’

‘There’s some interesting themes [in Othello] of jealousy and envy and pain and death.

He added: ‘And Kenny [Leon], the brilliant director, he’s putting it in what he calls the near future.

‘So all of those things – jealousy, envy – it takes on a whole new thing with the information age.’

In the New York Times article Denzel also spoke about a prophecy about him.

‘It was prophesied in my youth that I would travel the world and preach or speak to millions of people,’ he said.

‘I used to think that I was doing that through my work. Now I’m trying to be a bit more specific, speaking about my faith.’

He said it started in 1975 when he had flunked out of college and was not sure what to do with his life.

‘Well, a woman was sitting in my mother’s beauty shop in March 1975,’ he began.

‘The reason I was in there was I had flunked out of college – I was told to take a semester off to think about what I wanted to do.

Denzel just re-found his faith last year and got baptized in December, just ahead of his 70th birthday.

The Mount Vernon, New York-born actor was supported by his spouse of more than four decades, Pauletta Washington, 74, at his baptism.

After his baptism, Washington said, ‘It took a while, but I’m finally here, if [God] can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you – the sky literally is the limit.’

  • ‘The Interview’: Denzel Washington Has Finally Found His Purpose

‘The Interview’: Denzel Washington Has Finally Found His Purpose

So many of Denzel Washington’s greatest performances — from the majestic title role in “Malcolm X” to the unrepentantly corrupt cop Alonzo Harris in “Training Day” — have been defined by a riveting sense of authority, an absolute absence of pandering or the need to be liked. There’s an inner reserve deep down inside his characters that is unassailable, a little enigmatic, and that belongs to them alone.

The commanding qualities that have helped Washington become a cinematic legend are also, as I learned firsthand, the same ones that make him an unusual — and unusually complicated — conversationalist. The first of our two discussions was done remotely. He was at a photo studio in Los Angeles as the fires were still burning there, and I was at home in New Jersey. Even putting our physical distance aside, the discussion felt, well, distant. Or let me put it this way: We never quite figured out how to connect.

The second time we talked, it was different. I met Washington in person, at a spare, drafty room in a Midtown Manhattan building where he was rehearsing for an upcoming Broadway appearance. He’s playing the lead in a new production of “Othello” that goes into previews on Feb. 24; it co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Iago and is directed by the Tony Award winner Kenny Leon. I can’t with any certainty really say why, but things just felt easier on the second go-round. What I do know, though, is that the entire interview experience was, for me, as indelible as one of his performances.

I saw that at the end of last year you were baptized and earned your minister’s license. I got baptized, and I have to now take courses to obtain a license. I’m not an ordained minister.

Can you tell me about the decision to go through that process at this point in your life? I went for a ride one day. I decided to get in my car and drive up to Harlem. I stopped in front of the church that my mother grew up in. The door was cracked, so I went in. They were celebrating young students, members of the church, that were going to college. And I got involved in that, and one thing led to another, and weeks later, months later I got baptized.

Your father was a preacher? Yes.

Do you feel like you’re following a family tradition? It was prophesied in my youth that I would travel the world and preach or speak to millions of people. I used to think that I was doing that through my work. Now I’m trying to be a bit more specific, speaking about my faith.

I’ve seen you refer to the prophecy. Can you tell the story? Well, a woman was sitting in my mother’s beauty shop in March 1975. The reason I was in there was I had flunked out of college — I was told to take a semester off to think about what I wanted to do. And every time I looked up, I saw this woman looking at me, and she said she was having a prophecy. She didn’t say anything about me being an actor, but I have traveled the world, and I am speaking more and more.

Do you think there might come a time when you move to speaking mostly through ministry and not through acting? I don’t know.

This is a shot in the dark: There’s a book by James Baldwin called “The Devil Finds Work,” and in it he makes connections between the church and the theater. Does that comparison ring true for you? The universal stems from the specific, so you’ve got to be more specific.

He says both are about people experiencing an event together and communally creating the event as it happens. There is a spirit that, for him, was similar between the church and the theater. I agree with that.

The reason I ask about theater is because you’re going back to the theater to do “Othello.” Can you tell me about the rewards for you of doing Shakespeare? I think that still gives me the greatest joy: acting onstage as opposed to acting in movies.

I watched the commencement speech you gave at the University of Pennsylvania years ago, and you talked to the students about how you have to be willing to take risks. Are there ways in which doing “Othello” feels like a risk? In light of all that’s going on in our world, all that’s going on in our state, California, and our city specifically — it’s just a play. I’m grateful for the opportunity, but when put in perspective, it’s just a play.

What has your experience been with the fires? Just as a spectator and just being amazed — the scope and devastation. And then hearing about a lot of people in our industry who’ve been affected. It’s unbelievable.

Does it make you want to live somewhere else? You mean like run?

Well, just the reality of the danger in California — it’s scary. Nah, doesn’t make me want to live somewhere else.

Let me shift gears. I want to ask about family. Did having children change your perspective on the work? Yeah, it changed my perspective. Like, shoot, they’ve got to go where to school? It costs how much? How much do clothes cost? Yeah, it changed everything.

I’m always curious about actors, and artists generally, when they realize that their art is also a business. Does that affect how you approached the work itself? When I learned about my least favorite uncle, my Uncle Sam, that was the eye opener. I’m like, He takes what? That’s the reality of it, and a dollar is not a dollar. By the time agents, lawyer, business manager, Uncle Sam, everybody else gets finished with you, a dollar’s about 38 cents. So you’ve got to cobble those 38 cents together to make a real dollar.

But does that affect the work? If you know that something is a money job, do you go about that job any differently? You’re asking me, Did I ever take a job for money?

No, I’m asking — Because I was about to answer it.

OK. I’ve taken every job for money. There’s no job I’ve taken where I went: You guys just keep the money. I’m just so glad to be an actor. I don’t even want the money.

There’s got to be a difference in the calculus when you say yes to “Mississippi Masala” or “Malcolm X” as opposed to “Virtuosity” or “Ricochet.” Yeah, probably. Especially “Virtuosity.” I had some bills to pay. “Ricochet” was more like venturing down that road for the first time.

The action-movie road. Yeah, the action-movie road, which I didn’t really know. “Virtuosity” definitely had something to do with tuition [laughs], I’m sure.

Going back to the subject of your children, they all work in the business. Was that something that you felt you had to navigate with them? They got jobs before I knew they were in the business. John David was reading for “Ballers,” and I didn’t even know about it. Pauletta didn’t tell me, and so he got the job before I knew about it.

Your wife, Pauletta, is an actress. Yes, and singer and concert pianist. Are you familiar with the Van Cliburn competition?

The piano competition? Yeah. My wife was a Van Cliburn competitor. Juilliard. North Carolina School of the Arts. I married up.

What have you learned about being an artist from her? That it’s an art. Acting just sort of chose me, and I got going. But she’s an artist. I never looked at myself that way. I learned a lot about it, the discipline, the appreciation, from her.

Do you still not look at yourself as an artist? I try not to look at myself period. I’m not much for reflection.

Can I ask you about — I don’t have any money. [Laughs.]

That was my next question! Go ahead. You were going to ask me about what?

In the first-person piece you did for Esquire last year, tied to “Gladiator II,” you talked about your life and your career, and that was the first place, at least that I’ve seen, where you talked about drinking. You said there was this long period — from 1999 to 2014, when you put the beverage down — you were bitter. Bitter about what? I was bitter when I put it down, or I was bitter when I picked it up?

Well, in the piece you said — I was probably bitter when I picked it up, not when I put it down.

But what were you bitter about? Pick something. I don’t know. Any excuse will do, and no excuse is good enough.

Do you have insight into what the drinking was about? We don’t have that much time, brother.

Is it right that you used to carry around your acceptance letter from the American Conservatory Theater? Nah, I kept a letter from my English teacher.

Why was that something you kept? You just want to get all in my business. Because it made me feel good.

I’m just trying to fish around for things that might be engaging. I’m not trying to get all up in your business. But you are all up in my business.

I apologize. And I don’t like it, man. [Pauses.] I’m joking!

Oh, thank God. That was a joke! Gee whiz. I know how to get you now. You’re easy.

I’m too easy. Can I be honest with you? Yeah, go ahead.

I don’t know where to go conversationally with you. Maybe I should ask you a question?

Sure! Why do you feel that way?

The answers have been short. And often in this sort of thing, people are a little more expansive. OK, ask me a question, and I’m going to give you an expansive answer.

OK. Not too long ago, you finished filming with Spike Lee. Yes. That was your answer. [Laughs.]

You tricked me again. And it was your first time working with him since “Inside Man” almost 20 years ago. How has your relationship with him changed over time? That’s a good question.

Finally! It didn’t feel like 20 years. It felt like we picked up where we left off, you know? I mean, Spike is Spike.

Meaning? Spike is consistently Spike, and I love that about him. And I love working with him, and I’d work with him again. I just like the way his brain works.

I like to ask philosophical questions about why people do what they do and the meaning of it — There’s nothing wrong with that.

When I’ve asked you those types of questions, it hasn’t seemed interesting to you. And as a result, I feel like I’ve been flailing — What about this? What about that? Well, here’s your opportunity to get back on track with your next question.

So, I’m always curious about the interplay between the life and the work. I just rewatched “Flight,” and in that you play an airline captain named Whip Whitaker, who is struggling with alcohol and manages to save a flight in semi-miraculous fashion. Did playing that character show you anything about your own situation? Not that I recall. First of all, I didn’t drink and work, never have. I’d work and then drink. Honestly, I don’t even remember whether I was drinking those evenings or not. But what was the question? Did it affect — did it what?

Did you learn anything about yourself from doing a role like that? I think when you’re in the middle of it, you’re not so self-reflective, because you’re still working out the character.

You gain understanding after the fact? Well, if you’re thinking about it. Which I probably wasn’t.

What kinds of things do you think I should — Ask me? I want to know more about you.

We can switch roles. I would love to do that. If you said to yourself, “I wish I was better at this,” what would that be?

Aside from interviewing Denzel Washington? Come on now, don’t deflect. We’re talking about you.

I’m not assertive enough, and I have a problem with conflict. And because I avoid it, rather than getting solved, problems linger. And that had something to do with your dad or what?

See, I should be taking lessons from you! Would you answer these types of questions if I asked you? Ask me.

What do you need to work on the most? “Othello.”

You said I can’t deflect, so you don’t deflect. OK, good point. What do I need to work on the most? I was going to mention my faith, but that sounds like deflection. I don’t know. I can’t think of something I need to really work on. Relationships, you can always do better there.

Ask me another one. Tell me the second thing that you love. Not the first thing — the second thing.

This is going to sound so corny: laughter. That’s a great thing.

OK, your turn. The opportunity to lift others up.

How have you done that? Every opportunity and every which way I can. Sometimes with a dime, sometimes with a dollar, sometimes with a good word. I love seeing people do well.

Last question for this time: What should I think about in preparation for when we talk again? Man goes down to the ocean and tries to fit all the knowledge of the ocean into his little brain instead of just jumping in the water and enjoying himself. Sometimes you just have to have faith in things bigger than our ability to understand them. Sometimes you have to just jump in the water and enjoy yourself and not try to figure it out.

All right, that is something for me to think about. Bring your bathing suit! We’re jumping in the water together next time!

Washington and I spoke again the following week.

Thank you for giving me another run at this. How much of our conversation from last week do you remember? None.

Good! At the end of our conversation, I asked if there was anything I could reflect on before we spoke again, and you told me this little parable. The way I was thinking about that parable was that I felt as if in our first conversation, I was too wrapped up in expectations of how the conversation was supposed to go rather than just being with you in the moment. But where did you learn that sometimes you’ve just got to jump in the water? Well, I’ve tried everything else! I was reading Matthew today, and he talks about the seed, and if you put it in rocky soil, it won’t grow and all those things. You have to have faith that it will grow. You can’t even figure out how it grows or why it grows or where the sun comes from. Here’s what I mean: Man tries to reduce everything down to his understanding, which is the ultimate in ego. If I don’t understand it, it doesn’t exist. Some people don’t understand God, so some say, therefore, he doesn’t exist. Or they say, “I’m God,” because that’s what they need. Well, how’s that working out?

You also spoke last time about the value for you of helping people. Does acting help people? At this point, everything I’m doing is through the lens of what God thinks, not what they think. I don’t know what they think. You go down that hole, you’ll never come out of that. When people say, “What do you want people to get from this movie?” or “What do you want them to get from this play?” I always say, “It depends upon what they bring to it.” There’s some interesting themes [in “Othello”] of jealousy and envy and pain and death. And Kenny, the brilliant director, he’s putting it in what he calls the near future. So all of those things — jealousy, envy — it takes on a whole new thing with the information age.

What’s your favorite line from “Othello”? I don’t know.

I’ve got two. One is Othello’s, one is Iago’s. Othello’s is: “Who can control his fate?” And then my favorite line in all of Shakespeare is Iago’s “I am not what I am.” He said it yesterday. He’s a complicated guy. He’s going to be brilliant in this.

Who? Jake Gyllenhaal, who’s playing Iago? He’s nuts. I love him. He’s complicated. But he’s already got a handle on it. I’m not worried about that, because I don’t like to learn the lines too soon. I was telling a young actor who asked, “Why don’t you like to learn them too soon?” I said: “Because then I’m the voice I’m listening to delivering the cues to myself. I want to hear it from you, and that’s going to affect how I say what I say.” For me, that works.

You said everything now is through the lens of what God thinks. How does acting fit into that? That’s why you pray every day. I’m like, OK, Lord, I’m here, I think this is what you wanted me to do. Now I’m not sure why, but one can say coincidence and serendipity and all those things. I bit my tongue almost half-off a few months ago. It’s affecting my speech. It forces me to slow down. I have to use it. I have a line: “Whither will you that I go to answer this your charge?” It’s hard because my tongue is swollen. It has affected everything.

But you’ve got to use it. Jump in the water and enjoy yourself, instead of worrying about drowning.

I’ve been thinking a lot about David Lynch, who just died. “Blue Velvet”! Heck of a movie, man. I loved it. I went, “This guy is nuts.”

One of the reasons I’ve been thinking about him is that about 15 or so years ago, I was really low, and I was in a bookstore, and I saw that David Lynch had this book, “Catching the Big Fish,” about creativity. In it he says that one of the benefits of meditation is that it helps you become more you. Then I started meditating. That one sentence in one book by David Lynch changed my life. Have you ever had an experience like that? Where from afar someone changed your life? The prophecy. Changed my life completely. Going back to Matthew, it must have been a seed planted. But I wasn’t ready for it, or I didn’t understand it. I was 20 then; I’m 70 now. I’m on that 50-year journey to understanding.

Did an artist ever change your life? Yes. My English teacher, Bob Stone, who was in “Othello” with Paul Robeson. He wrote a recommendation letter for me for the American Conservatory Theater, which I still have. He basically said to them, “If you don’t have the ability to give this young talent what he needs, then don’t accept him.” I was like, “Wow, reverse psychology.” But he was, artistically, especially early on, the most important person, because he had been there. He understood the game.

This is a base question, but did you find that you cared about not getting an Oscar nomination for “Gladiator II”? I was sitting there smiling, going: Look at you. On the day you didn’t get a nomination for an Oscar, you’re working on “Othello” on Broadway. Are you kidding me? Awww. Oh, I’m so upset. Listen, I’ve been around too long. I’m getting wiser, working on talking less and learning to understand more — and that’s exciting.

Is there anything you want people to take away from this interview? Believe in something greater than yourself. Believe. Look at the world. What does it give you every day? Fires. Death. Murder. Politics. Dictators. Division. Look at the world we’ve created for ourselves. That’s all I’m going to say.

Kanye West advertises Nazi swastika T-shirt

Kanye West has provocatively advertised a T-shirt emblazoned with a Nazi swastika on his Twitter account, just hours after explaining a succession of anti-Semitic, sexist and homophobic posts were a ‘social experiment’.

The rapper, 47, who posted an image of the white top early on Saturday morning, described his latest design as ‘my greatest performance art piece thus far’.

Within hours, the image had garnered 34,000 ‘likes’ on his X account.

His latest controversial post comes just hours after a 12-hour barrage of shocking racist, homophobic and sexist tweets on X on Thursday night, which also included one begging President Trump to free Diddy from prison.

Among his most shocking tweets in the hours-long tirade, Kanye proudly declared: ‘I AM A NAZI’, later adding: ‘I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT B*****S.’

He also claimed that he will never ‘trust or work with Jewish people’ again and insisted he ‘will not apologise’ for his views.

The rapper was previously accused of anti-Semitism in 2022 after making a series of racist remarks, but later apologised, insisting it was not his ‘intention to hurt or demean’ the Jewish community.

On Thursday night that apology appeared to have been retracted as he tweeted: ‘IM NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS I CAN SAY WHATEVER THE F**K I WANNA SAY FOREVER WHERES MY F***ING APOLOGY FOR FREEZING MY ACCOUNTS SUCK MY D**K HOWS THAT FOR AN APOLOGY.’

He then appeared to explain away the hours-long tirade by claiming it was all simply part of a ‘social experiment’ and that he had ‘won’.

The rapper doubled down by saying he had ‘love’ for minority groups that he had taken aim at just moments before and seemed to suggest he had pushed boundaries and posted the offensive tweets to test if he would ‘still have my twitter’.

He told his 32.7million followers: ‘I won…I tweeted pretty much everything I felt like for 12 hours and I still have my Twitter. And most importantly my billions.

‘Thank you everyone for participating in this social experiment. Thank you and love to all my fellow rappers. Thank you and love to all black women. Thank you and love to all gays.

‘Thank you and love to all Jews. Thank you and love to all gay Jew rappers. Thank you to all broke N******. Thank you to the internet trolls.

‘Thank you for all neurodivergents. And a special thank you to Elon. I actually love everybody (especially fat WOMEN).’

Not long after this post however, West appeared to do another U-turn and resumed his tirade.

In one, he examined racism and said: ‘You know who hates black people the most – black people. You know who kills the most black people – black people.’

The troubled rapper also addressed concerns that his wife Bianca Censori is a victim of coercive control after her naked outing at the Grammys

A second tweet stated: ‘So funny how N****** rapping about killing N****** is not hate but posting a swastika is hate.’

Elsewhere he posted a picture of a Mounjaro jab and stated: ‘YEEZY DOES NOT HIRE FAT OR UGLY PEOPLE.’

In another he wrote: ‘SOME PEOPLE I LOVE SOME PEOPLE I GOT LOVE FOR I DONT HATE ANYONE I JUST DONT CARE ABOUT THEM ENOUGH TO HATE THEM.’

Prior to his his latest tweets, the troubled rapper addressed concerns that his wife Bianca Censori is a victim of coercive control after her naked outing at the Grammys, claiming he has ‘dominion’ over her.

Kanye, who took aim at several minority groups in his foul-mouthed tirade, wrote, ‘IF I LOST EVERYTHING ‘AGAIN TONIGHT WAS WORTH IT I CAN DIE AFTER THIS’, while also insisting he was ‘sober’ while tweeting.

Having voiced his support for incarcerated rapper Diddy, Kanye doubled down by saying he would ‘never speak again’ to anyone who disagreed with him, while also using homophobic slurs to lash out at those who supported Kamala Harris.

Kanye – who previously made vile sexual taunts about the former Vice President – started off by tweeting: ‘ANY N***A COME IN MY FACE AN ASK ME ABOUT THAT PUFF S**T IM STEALING OFF THEM IMMEDIATELY I DONT GIVE A F**K IF YOU 8 FEET TALL IMA JUMP AND STEAL OFF YOU.’

Insisting he would ‘block’ anyone who challenged him, he continued: ‘YOU N****S IS CONTROLLED AND BROKE ALL YOU KAMALA D**K RIDING F*****S YALL GOT EVERYTHING TO SAY ABOUT MY OPINIONS WHEN YOU JUST DOING WHAT N****S MAKE YOU DO FOR MONEY.’

Among his most shocking tweets in the hours-long tirade, Kanye proudly declared: ‘I AM A NAZI’, later adding: ‘I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT B*****S’

Kanye, who took aim at several minority groups in his foul-mouthed tirade, went on to state that ‘IF I LOST EVERYTHING ‘AGAIN TONIGHT WAS WORTH IT I CAN DIE AFTER THIS’

Attempting to claim he wasn’t using the highly offensive F-word slur in a homophobic way, he went on: ‘F*****S DONT MEAN GAY EITHER IT MEANS F****T LIKE IT ALWAYS MEANT YOU F*****G R****D [sic].’

Taking a turn, Kanye went on to lash out at the ‘woke’ decision to use female plus-size models in fashion shows.

Offering a random shout out to singer Adele, he shared: ‘F**K ALL THIS WOKE S**T THEY PUTTING FAT B*****S ON THE RUNWAY NOBODY WANNA SEE THAT S**T ITS UNHEALTHY IT PROMOTES OBESITY AND THE WILD S**T IS IF THE FAT B*****S LOOSE WEIGHT THEN THEY LOOSE THEIR ACCEPT FOR ADELLE CAUSE SHE ACTUALLY HAS ANOTHER TALENT THEN BEING USED AS A PAWN FOR POLITICAL AGENDAS [sic].’

Calling on anyone who works for him but disagrees with his views to ‘quit’, he went on to claim he wouldn’t work with any Jewish people again.

Insisting he was sober while making these remarks, he tweeted: ‘AINT NOBODY RAMPED UP EITHER IM CALM AS ICE THIS HOW I REALLY FEEL HOW I REALLY FELT AND HOW I WILL ALWAYS FEEL F**K ALL OF YOUR F**K A** UNFAIR BUSINESS DEALS.

Diddy has vehemently denied all of the allegations and charges against him. He has been denied bail multiple times.

Addressing the disgraced rapper – real name Sean Combs – by his former stage name, Puff Daddy, Kanye tweeted: ‘FREE PUFF’.

Half an hour later, he returned to the microblogging site to accuse celebrities of leaving Diddy to ‘rot’, penning: ‘ALL THESE CELEBRITY N****S AND B*****S IS P***Y YALL A WATCH OUR BROTHER ROT AND NEVER SAY S**T.’

Kanye then turned his attention to another disgraced rapper, Chris Brown, who has a history of violence against women, including assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

He tweeted: ‘WE ALL WATCHED THEM TRY TO CANCEL CHRIS BROWN AND AINT NOBODY DO NOTHING I WAS P***Y THEN TOO CHRIS BROWN ITS TIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF.’

Seven minutes later, in a seemingly unrelated tweet, he repeated the shocking claims he made in 2018, writing: ‘SLAVERY IS A CHOICE’.

Appearing to go back to defending Diddy, he went on: ‘THEY TRYNA PROVE A POINT AND YALL KNOW THAT YALL F***ING KNOW THAT AND SITTING LAUGHING AT THE F***ING INTERNET ON INSTAGRAM THIS MAN GAVE HIS LIFE TO US THIS MY IDOL THIS MY HERO.’

Kanye, who was receiving plenty of backlash from fans amid his tirade, then claimed he had nothing left to lose, writing: ‘WHAT YALL GONE DO CANCEL MY SNEAKER DEAL CANCEL MY RECORD DEAL FREEZE MY ACCOUNTS F**K ALL YALL N****S SLAVERY IS A CHOICE IM SPEAKING MY MIND NOW I AINT EDITING S**T AGAIN EVER.’

The rapper famously lost a series of brand deals in 2022 after his first anti-Semitic tirade, with GAP ripping Kanye merchandise from their stores, Universal dropping him and Adidas terminating its multi-million dollar partnership with the rapper.

Likening his situation to Diddy’s, Kanye referenced the rapper being ousted as the frontman of global alcoholic drinks giant, Diageo.

Using racist slurs and yet again targeting the Jewish community, he went on: ‘ALL YOU PLEEEEEASE COME AT ME THATS HOW WE SPOT THE K***S LET THESE WHITE PEOPLE AND JEWISH PEOPLE TELL YOU WHAT TO DO AND SAY F**K DIAGEO AND F**K ALL YALL N****S IN ADVANCE.’

Kanye then vowed to make money for Diddy by selling a clothing line collaborating his Yeezy brand with Diddy’s Sean John brand, insisting they would ‘split the profits 50/50.’

Kanye also tagged President Donald Trump, writing, ‘PLEASE FREE MY BROTHER PUFF’

Kanye, pictured in the Oval Office in 2018, appealed to Trump to release Diddy from custody

West also announced on social media he was selling Sean John merch, with half of the proceeds going to Combs

Kanye said he and Diddy’DISCUSSED’ the business endeavor ‘BEFORE THEY LOCKED HIM UP’

On his Yeezy website, Kanye featured a series of Sean John shirts – in red, white, blue, black and gray – for $20 apiece in what he said was a business arrangement with Diddy

Kanye said Thursday, ‘I’m selling the Sean John collaboration that me and my brother spoke about before they locked him up we splitting the profits 50/50’

Thanking Kanye for his support, Diddy reposted Kanye’s tweets about their clothing collaboration, taking to Instagram from behind bars to write: ‘Thank you to my brother @Ye’

Claiming that Diddy’s downfall was the result of racism, he went on: ‘JUST FOR CLARITY THEY TYRING TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF PUFF ME AND MY BROTHER HAD OUR ISSUES BUT THESE WHITE PEOPLE TRYING TO USE PUFF TO SCARE N****S IM NEITHER SCARED NOR BRAVE THIS JUST ME.’

As well as posting a series of controversial tweets on X, he also used his Instagram account to share his support for Diddy, tagging President Donald Trump in a post that read: ‘FREE DIDDY’.

Thanking Kanye for his support, Diddy reposted Kanye’s tweets about their clothing collaboration, taking to Instagram from behind bars to write: ‘Thank you to my brother @Ye’ and sharing a link to Yeezy.

The pair’s newfound support for each other will no doubt have come as a shock to many, given the pair have been locked in a feud since Kanye unveiled his controversial ‘White Lives Matter’ merchandise in 2022.

After Diddy branded the message ‘tone deaf’ in a podcast interview, Kanye released a series of texts between the pair fighting about the remarks.

Kanye also baffled fans as he appeared to reference Justin Bieber while making unsubstantiated claims about Diddy’s finances.

He shared: ‘I JUST FOUND OUT THAT PUFF IS NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE OR COLLECT MONEY WHILE HE’S LOCKED UP SO I’MA SEND HIS HALF OF THE MONEY TO JUSTIN.’

Fans have shared concerns about Justin’s wellbeing as his relationship with former mentor Diddy came under scrutiny amid the rapper’s arrest.

He could also have been referencing Diddy’s son Justin. The rapper is father to seven children – Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, twins D’Lila and Jessie and Love Sean – with four different women.

In one of his last nonsensical posts, Kanye claimed he had banned from Instagram again – at the time of posting his Instagram account was still active.

Since Kanye married Bianca in 2022 fans have expressed concern over her wellbeing, with the Australian architect continuously seen parading around in various states of undress.

During Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, Bianca stepped onto the carpet clad in a furry black coat before theatrically dropping the garment and flashing her bare bottom to photographers.

She turned around to show off her topless chest and lack of underwear while Kanye – nominated in the Best Rap Song category – leered at her nude body during the incident of indecent exposure.

Kanye’s rant comes days after Diddy’s attorneys told Dailymail.com that the entertainer ‘is confident he will prevail in court.’

They shared a statement on Wednesday that read: ‘No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted, or sex trafficked anyone – man or woman, adult or minor.

‘We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth, and Mr. Combs.’

Prosecutors in Diddy’s federal case say the music mogul used blackmail and violence in his efforts to silence victims.

Among the claims made against the entertainer is that he persuaded women to participate against their will in group sexual exhibitions referred to as ‘Freak Offs.’

The Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down performer remains in federal custody nearly five months after his September 16 arrest in Manhattan in connection with sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Diddy, who is also charged with transportation to engage in prostitution, has made a trio of attempts in vain to be granted bail, amid concerns from the court he would attempt to flee or tamper with his case.

Prior to his arrest he was in the headlines for much of 2024 year after raids on multiple properties in March; and video of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie surfacing on CNN in May.

Amid Diddy’s legal issues, Kanye’s social media followers on both X/Twitter and Instagram had a predominantly negative reaction to his remarks.

  • Chelsea Handler Roasts Justin Baldoni And Blake Lively’s Legal Feud

Chelsea Handler Roasts Justin Baldoni And Blake Lively’s Legal Feud

Chelsea Handler didn’t hold back during her Critics Choice Awards monologue on Friday, taking aim at the ongoing legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively.

Chelsea Handler’s remarks alluded to the ongoing legal battle that began in December, when “Gossip Girl” alum Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and emotional distress during the filming of “It Ends With Us,” prompting Baldoni to countersue Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation.

The comedian framed their bitter feud as an unexpected silver lining amid President Donald Trump’s second term, joking that it’s provided a much-needed break from the daily news cycle.

“Waking up every day, not knowing what news we are going to hear that will disappoint or horrify us. So, it’s important, in times like these, to have a distraction. And that’s why I want to personally extend my gratitude to Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively,” Handler quipped, adding:

“Thank you for providing us with that distraction. I’m grateful. I think we’re all grateful, and I think we’re good. I think everybody in this room, no matter whose side you’re on, we can all agree to accept that there’s probably not going to be a sequel.”

The ongoing dispute has captivated Hollywood, drawing sharp divisions among fans and industry insiders.

The case is set to go to trial in March 2026, but New York federal judge Lewis J. Liman has warned both sides that continued public sparring could lead to an earlier court date.

“If this case continues to be litigated in the press, I will move up the trial date,” Liman stated, emphasizing the need for legal proceedings to take place in the courtroom rather than the media.

To prevent further media influence on the case, Liman ordered both parties to follow the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, which prohibits lawyers from making public statements that could bias a jury. Despite accusations from Lively’s team that Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has made “extrajudicial statements” that come close to defamation, the judge has stopped short of issuing formal sanctions.

Baldoni and Lively weren’t the only targets of Handler’s sharp wit. Later in her speech, she poked fun at Ariana Grande’s relationship with her “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater, making a reference to his Broadway past.

“It is so nice to see some of our most beloved child stars all grown up and thriving. Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande are all nominated tonight. And now Ariana has even found love with a munchkin,” Handler joked, referencing Slater’s role in “Wicked.”

The joke, however, didn’t seem to land as expected, with the audience offering only mild laughter. Noticing the lukewarm reaction, Handler reassured the crowd, saying, “That’s good news, everybody.”

According to PEOPLE, the cameras panned to Grande and Slater, who looked “less than amused” by the remark.

Grande and Slater’s relationship has faced ongoing scrutiny ever since they were first linked in 2023.

The backlash stemmed largely from the timing of their romance, as Slater had recently divorced his wife, leading many fans to question the circumstances of their relationship.

In an October 2024 interview with GQ, Slater admitted that dealing with the public criticism has been challenging. “So just to address that part of it, that feels really hard,” he said at the time.

Meanwhile, Grande has been vocal in defending her boyfriend from the negative attention. In September 2024, the “Honeymoon Avenue” singer gushed about Slater, insisting that “no one on this earth has a better heart.”

“And that is something that no bullsh-t tabloid can rewrite in real life,” she added.

Chelsea Handler has never been one to shy away from controversy, and her Critics Choice Awards monologue was no exception. From legal feuds to relationship drama, she made sure to leave no Hollywood scandal untouched.

  • Laverne Cox Gives Powerful Speech Against Trump Agenda at SCAD TVfest: ‘They Are Committed to Eradicating Trans People from Public Life’

Laverne Cox Gives Powerful Speech Against Trump Agenda at SCAD TVfest: ‘They Are Committed to Eradicating Trans People from Public Life’

‘The Amazing Race’ Reveals Largest Cast Ever, New Game Play Twists and Locations for Season 37 2 days ago

Laverne Cox got the SCAD TVfest crowd to its feet on Friday evening, as the star delivered a powerful, emotional speech about the new Trump administration’s attack on trans rights, civil rights and destruction of regulations in order to enrich the billionaires now in office. Taking the stage to accept SCAD’s Impact Award, before premiering two episodes of her new Amazon Prime Video series “Clean Slate,” Cox delivered a call to action while also admitting the frightening truth that at the moment, “it might be too little, too late.”

“The system is rigged in favor of corporations, plutocrats, oligarchs, the wealthy,” she said. “It might not be the time for us to be able to rise up not only as trans people, but as working people, as people of color. People with the capacity for pregnancy, people who really just want to get a no fault divorce. And so many other things.”

Cox noted that Trump ran on a platform that could easily be interpreted as white supremacist. “The Project 2025 agenda is a Christian nationalist agenda, if you read the text,” she noted. “And their form of Christian nationalism is a white Christian nationalism. It is a Christian nationalism with the man, the patriarch, as the head of the household, after God, and women being subservient, women not being able to get a divorce, women not being able to get an abortion, and people with ectopic pregnancy not being able to get an abortion. This is the America they dream of, iIn addition to dismantling the regulatory state, which we’re seeing happen very quickly right now. It is a future, a vision of America that would completely deregulate everything so the corporations can do whatever they want and make as much money as possible.”

But Cox saved her most heartbreaking portion of her speech to discuss what is now happening to trans people, particularly trans youth, across the country. “They are committed to eradicating trans people from public life, they’ve said it blatantly,” Cox said. They said it in everything that they have done. This is not a distraction. This is part of their agenda… When states pass laws that criminalize, stigmatize trans people, it emboldens the public to do the same thing, to commit violence against trans people. Violence against trans youth has skyrocketed in states that pass discriminatory policies affecting trans people. When the state sanctions discrimination against us, it emboldens citizens to commit violence against us, and it is heartbreaking. And it has been heartbreaking for years what trans people, and particularly trans youth, have experienced.”

“Clean Slate,” which comes Sony Pictures TV and the late Norman Lear’s Act III Prods. (led by Brent Miller), centers on car wash owner Henry (George Wallace), whose estranged child comes home to Alabama after 17 years. But he must do some soul searching as he comes to terms with the fact that his adult child is a trans woman, Desiree (Cox). The eight-episode series premiered Feb. 6 on Prime Video.

The “Clean Slate” premiere rounded out this year’s SCAD TVfest, held Feb. 5 to Feb. 7 at the school’s Atlanta campus. Here’s a full text of Cox’s remarks:

“I’ve had a few little accolades in my career that I am incredibly proud of. And it reminds me that an impact award or an Emmy nomination or two SAG awards or countless magazine covers (including British Vogue, twice!), these are wonderful, wonderful things. These honors have inspired many people, and I’m proud of that, and given perspective to people who might not know a trans person in real life.

“But these honors have not changed the material reality of the majority of trans people in this country and around the world. The reality is that most trans people in this country are poor and working class. The reality of the lives of most trans people, particularly trans youth in this country that over the past several years, they have been fleeing states who have passed laws banning gender affirming care, laws that would criminalize parents that support their trans kids. And so, families have been fleeing states for several years. And mostly states that are here in the south.

“This wonderful honor will not change the material reality that right now there are trans people who have put in applications for passports, and they’re waiting to receive their passports back, knowing that they will not get their gender marker changed — and are not even sure they’ll get their passports back. It won’t change the reality that in the state of Florida, for a year now, you have not been able to change your gender marker on your state identification.

“It won’t change the fact that when states pass laws that criminalize, stigmatize trans people, it emboldens the public to do the same thing, to commit violence against trans people. Violence against trans youth has skyrocketed in states that pass discriminatory policies affecting trans people. When the state sanctions discrimination against us, it emboldens citizens to commit violence against us, and it is heartbreaking. And it has been heartbreaking for years what trans people, and particularly trans youth, have experienced.

“In the 26 states that have been gender-affirming care for young people, there are often laws that would criminalize the doctors for providing that care. According to recently signed executive order from the current president of the United States, gender affirming care for all young people should be banned in this country. I want to remind you that there are 14 or 15, states that say we’re not following that because that’s illegal.

“And so much of what is happening under in this chaotic new administration is blatantly illegal. If you read Project 2025 — it was quite a read — none of this is surprising. And it is the jobs of our elected representatives and the amazing organizations who are suing this administration to challenge them and to resist at every point.

“But it might be too little, too late. There is the power system is rigged. The system is rigged in favor of corporations, plutocrats, oligarchs, the wealthy. It might not be the time for us to be able to rise up not only as trans people but as working people, as people of color. People with the capacity for pregnancy, people who really just want to get a no fault divorce. And so many other things.

“The Project 2025 agenda is a Christian nationalist agenda, if you read the text. And for the Heritage Foundation, their form of Christian nationalism is a white Christian nationalism. It is a Christian nationalism with the man, the patriarch, as the head of the household, after God, and women being subservient. Women not being able to get a divorce, women not being able to get an abortion, and people with ectopic pregnancy not being able to get an abortion.

“This is the America they dream of. In addition to dismantling the regulatory state, which we’re seeing happen very quickly right now, is a future, a vision of America that would completely deregulate everything so the corporations can do whatever they want and make as much money as possible. It is a vision where, billionaires get even bigger tax breaks while the cost of health care goes up while people can’t afford a home or rent or groceries. It is an administration that is for the wealthy and corporations. And disdain for you, all the working people all over this country.

“And what is so disappointing to me about the Democratic party and so many people who identify as a liberal, a leftist, is that somehow we have not been able to come together across our differences and form coalitions to resist this. The fact that there is such a lack of willingness to tell the truth about our racist legacy when presidential candidates run for office. Democrats run — particularly Democrats of color — and don’t talk about racism, because it’s really uncomfortable for a lot of white people to hear about racism, and they don’t want to feel guilty. And so, ‘talking about racism is like, you know, not really good. So let’s not do that.’

“And for the entire history of the United States, we just don’t talk about racism. Racism exists, and this President ran on a blatantly white supremacist platform. So if we have a white supremacist platform that’s being run on, and we don’t talk about race, there are a lot of people who are like, ‘what?’ If you don’t actually have an agenda for working people? A lot of people say, ‘what?’ And then forming coalitions of working class people around you, when you leave trans people behind.

“Kamala Harris, love her, didn’t talk about trans people at all. You’d never know it based on what the Republicans were saying. We can’t leave people behind. We actually have to tell the truth about the history and legacy of this country so that we can actually be in coalition with each other and trust each other. Trans people are not going to be in coalition with folks who deny our existence or who want to say that our issues are a distraction.

“If you read Project 2025, or just look around at what Republicans have been doing on the state level for the past five years, it is not a distraction for them. They are committed to eradicating trans people from public life, they’ve said it blatantly. They said it in everything that they have done. This is not a distraction. This is part of their agenda. And so saying we’re a distraction is a great way to say ‘this issue is a little touchy, and I really don’t want to go there’ instead of standing up for the most marginalized, having some values and standing up for something.

“We have to take back our narratives as people on the left and Democrats and not just respond to the agenda that the Conservatives are setting. They have been setting the agenda, and leftist Democrats have been responding. We can set the agenda, an agenda for working people, agenda for human rights and civil rights, because if we don’t, well, we’re probably already screwed.

“So if we are already screwed, and I think we kind of already are, if that is the case, then what? To be honest, that ‘then what,’ it actually excites me. Because then the ‘then what’ is community. The ‘then what’ is our legacy and history as LGBTQI+ folks and people of color, of mutual aid, of chosen family, of finding resources.

“You know, trans people have been getting access to gender-affirming care since gender-affirming care existed. And Susan Stryker, who literally wrote the book on trans history, told me many years ago she interviewed Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. If you don’t know who that is, girl, you need to get your life together. Google her! Miss Major is from Chicago. And she told me that Miss Major said in 1955, when she was 15 years old, doing sex work on the streets of Chicago, the girl had hormones. In 1955, Black trans sex workers had access to feminizing hormones. In 1955.

“For years, through black markets, through underground railroads of resources, trans people have been getting access to gender-affirming care. It’s not always the safest. There have been issues with that. I want to get our blood work done. We want to be able to go to a doctor and do it. But we’ve never been stopped from being ourselves. We’ve never allowed any government, anyone to tell us that we can exist. And we’ve done everything we can to be ourselves and to support each other on that journey. I’ve heard stories from the back in the day of forging birth certificates, forging IDs, doing what we have to do.

“Obviously, the criminalization of trans people, it’s all very, very scary. But I look to my ancestors and trans-cestors. I look to my history as a Black American, and think about the resilience that is baked inside of us to resist this as individuals. Because what is happening now is so big. We need systemic change, and there’s not political will or politicians with courage to really make that happen. But each of us as individuals can make changes in our lives and the lives of the people we know and love. We can go out into our communities, and do what we can for each other. We can support organizations like Campaign for Southern Equality, who are helping to relocate people. We may need to relocate to other countries. So all of that is happening.

“So that ‘we’re probably screwed’ thing becomes an opportunity to love each other more. To lean into all the things that make us human. To rehumanize each other. Even people we disagree with. Even people who voted for that man. We can rehumanize them, they’re still human beings. We’re all humans, and this is what I love about being an artist. Being able to tell human stories. To be an arbiter of empathy. With ‘Clean Slate’ being able to tell a story of a trans woman and her family, just trying to do the best that they can. A story about love and family. I want to thank everyone at Amazon and Sony for working with us to make this possible. It is a big deal for a studio to support a project like this at any time in history, but particularly at this time…

“I want to say how much I love all of you and how grateful I am. We need our allies more than ever right now as LGBTQ+ people. If you say you’re with us, girl, this is the time to show it. In a substantial way, a material way. For us to be there for each other, across all our differences. Because they’re not just coming for trans people, we know that, right? They’re coming for all of us. I’m focusing on trans, but I also am thinking of people who are undocumented, people who are incarcerated, marginalized people everywhere, people with disabilities. I’ll end with this. Brene Brown’s definition of love. Brene Brown says that ‘we cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from offering with trust, respect, kindness, and affection. Love is not something we give or get; it is something we nurture and grow, a connection that can be cultivated between two people only when it exists within each of them- we can love others only as much as we love ourselves.’ She ends by saying, ‘Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and withholding affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can survive these injuries only if they’re acknowledged, healed, and rare.’”
