  • Adam Sandler’s New Happy Gilmore 2 Teaser Shows First Look At Ben Stiller’s Return

Adam Sandler’s New Happy Gilmore 2 Teaser Shows First Look At Ben Stiller’s Return

Adam Sandler is bringing back the beloved world of “Happy Gilmore,” and this time, he’s not alone. The first teaser for “Happy Gilmore 2” just dropped, giving fans a glimpse of Ben Stiller reprising his hilarious role from the 1996 sports comedy classic, per Variety.

    A Nostalgic Return with a Star-Studded Cast

Netflix unveiled the teaser on March 18, and it didn’t disappoint. Sandler, now 58, suits up once again in his signature Boston Bruins jersey, ready to take another swing at golf glory. Familiar faces return, including Christopher McDonald as the ever-smug Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen as Virginia, Happy’s love interest. But the excitement doesn’t stop there — the sequel boasts an impressive mix of talent. Alongside Sandler and McDonald, the cast includes Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny, John Daly, Sadie and Sunny Sandler, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, and a lineup of golf greats like Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Paige Spiranac.

Netflix’s official logline keeps it simple: “Happy Gilmore returns!” Yet, the teaser delivers more than just nostalgia — it signals a fresh and modern take on the classic sports comedy. Sandler’s Instagram post accompanying the teaser expressed his enthusiasm: “Hope you all have fun and thanks for all the great times.”

Authentic Golf and Sandler Comedy Gold

Buzz around the sequel has been growing since March 2024, when McDonald let slip that Sandler was working on a script. Netflix made things official in May 2024, confirming that Sandler co-wrote the film with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, while “Murder Mystery” director Kyle Newacheck took the helm.

One standout aspect of the sequel is its commitment to authenticity. Pro Shop founder Chad Mumm revealed that Happy Madison Productions worked closely with professional golfers to make the action on the course feel as real as possible. “I think Adam’s experience with ‘Hustle’ and making basketball feel authentic carried over to this project,” Mumm told The Hollywood Reporter. The goal? A blend of comedy and realism that stays true to the world of golf while keeping the laughs rolling.

And then there’s Ben Stiller. His return to the franchise is bound to add another layer of comedic brilliance. Fans of Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler know that when these two team up, the results are nothing short of legendary. With its mix of returning favorites, new faces, and a commitment to making golf look and feel authentic, “Happy Gilmore 2” is shaping up to be a must-watch event on Netflix.

‘I Could Not Be Silent’: Gal Gadot On Speaking Out After October 7

“We can’t hold our breaths and pray or beg from support from people, groups, communities, that don’t want to be there for us”

Native Israeli actress Gal Gadot, famous for playing Wonder Woman among other roles, explained why she left behind her usual reticence in speaking about politics after the October 7, 2023, massacre in which the terrorist group Hamas and Gaza residents slaughtered over 1,220 Israelis: “I could not be silent.”

“There is a challenge for people to speak on social media because there is so much hate going on and so many bots and so many angry people that are looking for a cause,” Gadot told Variety.

“Who cares about the celebrity talking about politics?” Gadot, who has served in the Israel Defense Forces, asked rhetorically. “I’m an artist. I want to entertain people. I want to bring hope and be a beacon of light whenever I say anything about the world.”

“But on October 7, when people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent,” she declared. “I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up.”

“I’m not a hater,” she continued. “I’m a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor who came to Israel and established his family from scratch after his entire family was erased in Auschwitz. And on the other side of my family, I’m eighth-generation Israeli. I’m an indigenous person of Israel.”

“I am all about humanity and I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages. … when your compass is clear, your conscience is clean. I know what I’m advocating for, and I know what I wish for the world. I am praying for better days for all. I want everybody to have good life and prosperity, and the ability to raise their children in a safe environment.”

On Tuesday, as Gadot was honored at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, the festivities were delayed for 15 minutes when pro-Palestinian activists made enough trouble that police were called in.

On March 4, speaking at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit, Gadot stated, “Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews. … Here’s the thing: However much you tried to avoid it before, even if speaking up wasn’t really your thing, none of us can ignore the explosion of Jew-hatred around the world anymore. … My name is Gal, and I’m Jewish, and we have had enough of Jew-hatred. On October 7, Jewish women were sexually terrorized, raped, murdered, and kidnapped by Hamas. We were all listening, hoping to hear support from our sisters around the world and too often heard silence. We can’t wait any longer; we can’t hold our breaths and pray or beg from support from people, groups, communities, that don’t want to be there for us. We need to be there for ourselves.”

The day of the October 7 massacre, Gadot wrote on Instagram:

At least 250 Israeli have been murdered and dozens of women children and elders held as hostages in Gaza, by Palestinian military group Hamas. Starting early morning more than 3,000 rockets were fire. Hamas is holding hostages, controlling bases and settlements in Israel. There have been more than 1,500 injured and heavy fighting is still ongoing “I hear their voices and they are banging on the door. I am with my two little children.” My heart is aching. Praying for all of those in pain.

Years after serving in the Israel military, Gadot said, “It was demanding because you give up your freedom for two years, but there is something special in giving back to your community.”

Disney Wondering If It’s Too Late To Replace Rachel Zegler With Kevin Spacey

U.S. — Walt Disney Studios is running damage control ahead of its live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, reportedly hoping it’s not too late to replace the controversial Rachel Ziegler with a less-hated actor like Kevin Spacey.

According to sources, Disney executives have already had several productive meetings with Spacey and are hoping to sign the actor right away if they can work out terms. “We already know he loves kissing men,” Disney CEO Bob Iger told Entertainment Weekly. “So we’re pretty confident wearing a dress and singing to CG dwarves isn’t a bridge too far.”

Director Marc Webb is reportedly excited for a chance to direct Kevin Spacey. “When I look at Kevin Spacey I really see someone who is ‘fairest of them all.’ It’s a real improvement,” he said. “I don’t know why we didn’t cast him in the first place. He’s got such a commanding presence on set.”

Spacey is reportedly eager to take on the role, viewing his last minute replacement of Ziegler akin to a similar situation in which he was replaced by Christopher Plummer in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World. “Being cut from a completely finished film was devastating to me,” he said. “Maybe replacing an actress in another movie will bring me peace.”

At publishing time, Meghan Markle had also been confirmed as a possible replacement for Ziegler.

  • Netflix Has Found Its Cujo Director, And It’s A Filmmaker Perfect For Stephen King

Netflix Has Found Its Cujo Director, And It’s A Filmmaker Perfect For Stephen King

In a bit of unexpected news, Darren Aronofsky is headed to the world of Stephen King. Yes, the man behind everything from “Requiem for a Dream” to “Mother!” has been tapped to direct Netflix’s upcoming film version of “Cujo,” King’s 1981 novel that previously inspired a big screen adaptation in 1983. Now, Aronosky will be afforded the chance to put his own stamp on the material.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky has signed on to direct the adaptation, which is being produced by Roy Lee (“Barbarian,” “It”). There is still no word on who is penning the screenplay, but the filmmaker is expected to be meeting with candidates soon. This is all pretty surprising, as Netflix’s “Cujo” was only revealed to be in development very recently. It seems this one won’t be languishing in development hell.

Aronofsky is coming off his hit “The Whale,” which ultimately netted Brendan Fraser an Oscar. He is one of the more roundly respected directors working in Hollywood today, which makes his hiring for something so commercial — and made specifically for a streaming service — so surprising, but not unwelcome. For those who may need a refresher, the synopsis for King’s original book reads as follows:

The Cambers’ once-friendly St. Bernard turns into a killer after being bitten by a rabid bat. Donna Trenton’s husband is in New York trying to contain a disastrous ad campaign. Feeling abandoned by her workaholic husband, who is frequently out of town, Donna Trenton embarks on an affair with a local handyman. Left to fend for herself, she takes her ailing Pinto to Joe Cambers’ garage for repairs only to be trapped with her son Tad in the sweltering car by the monstrous dog.

  • Jesse Colin Young, Youngbloods frontman, dies aged 83

Jesse Colin Young, Youngbloods frontman, dies aged 83

Young passed away on Sunday (16th March) at home in Aiken, South Carolina, his wife and manager, Connie Young, announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Young’s PR team released a statement describing Young as a prolific artist who left a “unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll”.

The statement continued: “As the frontman of The Youngbloods, he immortalised the ideals of the Woodstock generation with Get Together, an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s.

“An acclaimed songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, producer, label owner, podcast host, and longtime social/environmental activist, he has established a permanent place in America’s musical landscape, while continuing to make modern music that’s every bit as vital as his work during the counterculture era.”

Born Perry Miller in Queens, New York in 1941, Young released his debut album, The Soul of a City Boy, in 1964 and the follow-up Young Blood the following year.

But the musician really rose to fame when he formed the rock band duo known as The Youngbloods alongside folk guitarist Jerry Corbitt in 1965.

The pair later added guitarist and pianist Lowell “Banana” Levinger and drummer Joe Bauer to the band.

They released their debut album The Youngbloods in 1967, which included their version of Chet Powers’s Get Together. The song became an international hit.

After the band split, Young went on to pursue a solo career and released the album Together in 1972.

He retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, but began making music again in 2016 and continued to perform up until 2023.

Tributes have been flooding in for Young on social media following the tragic news of his passing.

Musician Steve Conte wrote on Instagram: “RIP Jesse Colin Young of The Youngbloods. I got to play his biggest hit with him, Get Together, at the 38th Annual John Lennon Tribute a few years back. He was a joy to work with…”

Young is survived by his wife Connie and his four children.

Tracy Morgan appears to have medical incident during Knicks-Heat game

Tracy Morgan appeared to experience a medical incident at the New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat game at Madison Square Garden in New York City Monday night.

The actor and comedian, 56, was transported by wheelchair out of the game after he was seen vomiting at his courtside seat.

The NBA game was delayed during the third quarter following the incident while staff cleaned the area where Morgan was sitting. The Knicks would go on to beat the Heat 116-95.

In a statement to ABC News, a Madison Square Garden spokesperson said, “We hope Tracy feels better soon and look forward to seeing him back courtside.”

Morgan is a big Knicks fan and a regular at courtside during home games.

Morgan has previously opened up about health issues, including undergoing a kidney transplant in 2010, sustaining injuries following a major 2014 car accident and having pneumonia.

“I’m here. I’m with y’all. Fight, fight. … Listen, you don’t have to have pneumonia, you don’t have to get hit by a truck. you don’t have to get shot. you don’t [have to] get stabbed, you, God forbid, lay down on your bed [and] not just wake up. So your best bet is just to run your race,” Morgan said on “The View” in 2019.

  • Gal Gadot’s Walk of Fame ceremony disrupted by political protesters

Gal Gadot’s Walk of Fame ceremony disrupted by political protesters

Pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony for Israeli actor Gal Gadot on Tuesday, delaying the event and inciting police response.

Several dozen protesters gathered ahead of the ceremony for the Wonder Woman star, who is an outspoken supporter of the Israeli military. According to Variety, pro-Palestinian protesters held signs that read “Heroes Fight Like Palestinians,” “Viva Viva Palestina” and “No Other Land Won Oscar,” referring to the documentary on Israeli incursions onto Palestinian land in the West Bank that won the award for best documentary this month.

A video posted to X by Variety reporter Katcy Stephan shows protesters chanting “shame on Gal Gadot”. Another showed multiple protesters handcuffed by police. The crowd also shouted: “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation” and “not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime.” Variety reported that nearly two dozen protesters gathered for each side.

Related: Wish it away: will the live-action Snow White be a new low for Disney?

The demonstrations delayed the ceremony by about 15 minutes. Protesters could still be heard as the proceedings got underway, and police were called after a pro-Palestinian protester stole an Israeli flag.

Gadot, who stars as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White, served in the Israeli military and has vocally supported Israel since the 7 October terrorist attacks and subsequent invasion of Gaza, both on social media and in an impassioned speech before the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit on 4 March. “Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews,” she said in her speech.

Speaking to Variety ahead of Tuesday’s ceremony, Gadot described how she became more direct with her politics after the Hamas-led attack on Israeli citizens on 7 October 2023. “When people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent,” she said. “I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up.”

“I am all about humanity,” she continued, “and I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages.” As for criticism of her stances, she added: “when your compass is clear, your conscience is clean. I know what I’m advocating for, and I know what I wish for the world.”

Gadot steered clear of the issue during her ceremony, instead thanking Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel, and referring to herself as “just a girl from a town in Israel”.

Related: ‘It’s controversial and polarising’: is Disney’s new Snow White a poisoned apple?

The demonstrations precede the opening weekend for Snow White, which has faced its own fair share of controversy in the weeks leading up to its release. Speculation of a rift between Gadot and co-star Rachel Zegler, who is vocally pro-Palestine, flared after Disney scaled back last weekend’s world premiere, limiting interviews to in-house, talent-friendly press. Zegler has also received flak for publicly criticizing the original 1937 version of Snow White, and wishing on Instagram that Donald Trump and his voters “know no peace” after the November election. She since apologized.

Gadot is also not the only Disney star to face criticism for their stance on Israel-Palestine. Last month, several dozen pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the Hollywood premiere of Captain America: Brave New World, calling for a boycott of the film over the inclusion of Israeli superhero Ruth Bat-Seraph, aka Sabra, played by Israeli actor Shira Haas.

They held signs with such slogans as “Disney supports genocide.” In a joint letter, some Palestinian cultural groups complained: “By reviving this racist character in any form, Marvel is promoting Israel’s brutal oppression of Palestinians.”

“It is with deep sadness that we announce music legend Jesse Colin Young, who left a unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll, died in his home in Aiken, South Carolina yesterday afternoon,” a representative added in a statement to PEOPLE. “As the frontman of The Youngbloods, he immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with ‘Get Together,’ an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s.”
