Marvel drops first trailer for new ‘Fantastic Four’ movie — and it might just revive my excitement for the MCU

‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ trailer takes us into a retro-futuristic world

Marvel just dropped the first trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and honestly? It actually looks really good. Set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, this movie is giving the iconic superhero team a fresh start, meaning it might just be what the MCU needs right now.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the cast is stacked: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The movie clearly leans into a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic vibe, which immediately sets it apart from anything we’ve seen before. And if that wasn’t enough, the team will be going up against none other than Galactus (Ralph Ineson), with Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer.

    Check out the trailer:

One of the best things about this take is that it skips the usual origin story. Instead of watching them figure out their powers again, we’re jumping straight into a world where they’re already established heroes. The trailer teases their team dynamic, showing off Reed’s intellect, Sue’s force fields and Johnny quite literally lighting up the sky. The trailer also hints at the challenges they face in balancing their superhero duties with personal relationships.

The trailer’s visual style is already turning heads with its bold, Tomorrowland-inspired ’60s aesthetic. It’s a striking departure from past “Fantastic Four” adaptations, giving this reboot a fresh identity while tapping into Marvel’s evolving storytelling. Honestly, it’s refreshing to see a superhero movie embrace such a distinct look instead of the usual CGI-heavy spectacle.

Kevin Feige confirmed on The Official Marvel Podcast that “Fantastic Four” is, in fact, a period piece set in the 1960s. But that’s not the only twist: Feige also revealed that the movie takes place in an alternate universe separate from the main MCU timeline. That doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t see familiar faces, though. With the multiverse fully in play, there’s always the possibility that the Fantastic Four could cross paths with heroes from our primary timeline.

This revelation opens up some exciting possibilities, including a potential cameo or post-credit scene with Doctor Doom (considering Marvel confirmed Robert Downey. Jr will play the iconic villain). While nothing is confirmed yet, one thing is clear: “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” isn’t just rebooting the team but introducing them in a way we’ve never seen before.

The official logline for this “Fantastic Four” movie reads: “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family as they face their most daunting challenge yet.

“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is kicking off Phase Six of the MCU, ushering in a whole new era. Given the rocky history of “Fantastic Four” movies, there’s a lot riding on this one. But for the first time in a while, I have real hope. With a fantastic cast, a bold creative vision, and a fresh approach, this might just be the movie that pulls me back into the MCU.

  • Sandra Bullock Has Deep Concern for Family’s Safety After Social Media Scams

Sandra Bullock Has Deep Concern for Family’s Safety After Social Media Scams

Sandra Bullock issued a rare public statement after social media scammers impersonated her online.

“My family’s safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter,” Bullock, 60, told People on Monday, February 3.

Bullock warned her fans not to trust accounts they didn’t know, adding, “Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me.”

The actress addressed the situation one day after her younger sister Gesine Bullock-Prado, called out people who were impersonating her on Facebook for financial gain. Gesine Bullock-Prado shared screenshots of the fake accounts with her name and photo attached.

“I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes, dealing with weird & scary emails to my BUSINESS and HOME from men who believe that, through one of these many fake ‘me’s, they have a relationship with my sister through private messages and off app sites and have been giving (sometimes) THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to an incredibly famous and successful grown assed woman,” Gesine, 54, wrote on Sunday, February 3.

Gesine only included “a few FB imposter accounts, all of which I’ve reported both on this app and to a live human.”

“Surprise! They are all still up! When I report, i also report to a security service that gives the account addresses directly to a Meta employee,” she continued before alleging that the accounts are run by “crime rings” that “also run fake groups” that post fake statements from her. “This is my only account and y’all know it’s about baking, cooking, animals, and gardening. I’m a grown assed middle aged woman with a life and I don’t troll around at 54 DMing people.”

Gesine confirmed that law enforcement had to get involved, adding, “If you see a fake account, are friended or messaged by one, report and block. The only reason I stay on FB is to monitor this for my own knowledge so I am aware of the danger coming at me (and yes, because of these scams, I’ve had to involve local law enforcement and they’ve been outstanding).”

She continued: “Strangely, Insta handles these things and even informs me when someone creates an account that may be an imposter. But FB? Same company with same tech? Can’t be bothered.”

In her social media post, Gesine referenced a recent incident when a woman in France was scammed out of $800,000 by an anonymous account posing as Brad Pitt using AI. Meanwhile, a single mother from Kentucky gave approximately $10,000 to a scammer claiming to be Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery.

“Here I am thinking that he is going to say he is Johnny Depp or something. He tells me that he is Dacre Montgomery. That is one of my favorite actors,” McKala told YouTube’s Catfished series in August 2023. “Me and him just really hit it off but of course I am suspicious until he starts doing things that make me believe that he is who he is.”

McKala divorced her ex — with whom she shares a daughter — in order to make her relationship work with the individual she thought was Montgomery, 30. After speaking with the hosts of the YouTube series, McKala realized that she was being misled.

“If you’re someone like me, you’re afraid of abandonment and you’re a real big people pleaser and you’re very codependent,” she added at the time. “These scammers, they just kind of come in and they leech off that.”

  • Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, arrested, records show

Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, arrested, records show

Orange County records show Jordan, 34, was booked into jail Tuesday.

According to NBC News, Marcus Jordan was arrested “after he was allegedly out drinking at a Florida strip club before getting his car stuck on railroad tracks early Tuesday,” authorities said.

He was booked on suspicion of DUI, drug possession and resisting arrest.

According to an affidavit obtained by NBC, Maitland police discovered a blue Lamborghini stuck in railroad tracks at about 1:14 a.m. near Greenwood Drive and Mechanic Street. The docs alleged the vehicle was reported to have fled from Seminole County Sheriff’s police shortly before the discovery.

“I stood at the window and immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle,” an arresting officer wrote in the document. “The defendant kept saying he made a wrong turn and needed assistance getting his vehicle off the railroad tracks. I noticed the driver had slurred speech and he was confused where he was located. I noticed the driver had red bloodshot and glassy eyes.”

Jordan told officers he had been drinking that night and was “coming from a few venues in Winter Park and Casselberry.” A “plastic baggie with a white powdery substance inside” was also found in the “right pocket of his pants,” authorities said, noting that field tests later showed the substance was cocaine.

Officials alleged Marcus Jordan was not cooperative during the arrest, at one point extending his legs to keep them from closing the door to the squad car. He also “was singing the entire way to the DUI Center and his speech was slurred,” the affidavit states.

It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Marcus Jordan has been in headlines in recent years for his previous relationship with “The Real Housewives of Miami” star Larsa Pippen. Pippen shares four children with NBA Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen, who won six championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s as Michael Jordan’s teammate.

Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan first announced they were dating in January 2023, saying later that year that a wedding was “in the works.” But the two ultimately ended their relationship in February 2024.

Marcus Jordan also starred in Season 2 of “The Traitors.”

  • Fans react to ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ reboot series: “Hope this gets made before the apocalypse”

Fans react to ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ reboot series: “Hope this gets made before the apocalypse”

A new iteration of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is edging closer to being a reality, and fans have been sharing their enthusiasm online.

According to a report by Variety, Sarah Michelle Gellar is in talks to reprise her most famous role of Buffy Summers in a sequel series to the vampire hit which originally ran from 1997 to 2003. According to the article, it will focus on a new slayer protecting the world from vampires, with Buffy in a mentor role.

Oscar winning director Chloe Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals) will helm the series as well as serving as executive producer. Original series creator Joss Whedon is not listed among the creatives, following claims of inappropriate behaviour on set while making the show which were reported in 2021.

The article states that the show is close to a pilot with US streamer Hulu, and fans have been largely excited by the return of the show’s original star. On X (formerly Twitter), one fan wrote: “Ooooh! Some good news at last! Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot in the works with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to the titular role. Hope this gets made before the apocalypse”.

Another enthused: “Well that’s cool Chloe Zhao directing series Buffy the vampire Slayer reboot. Glad Sarah Michelle Gellar is back”. One compared it to the arrival of a new Marvel film, writing: “Never mind Fantastic 4, I’m more excited about news of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. Still got my poster from my teenage years somewhere, might go for a rummage and put it up!”

One fan had questions, however, as to how the show would work given the way the original series ended. “It doesn’t make sense” they posted, adding: “they say the reboot will focus on a new slayer, and Buffy will be a mentor/watcher…but Buffy changed everything, and now there are thousands of slayers working together, why would she be mentoring this one?”

The show remains beloved among fans and critics. Late last year, it was named among the best horror TV series ever.

  • Judge’s stern warning to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

Judge’s stern warning to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

Judge’s warning to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni as It Ends With Us co-stars’ battle escalates

Attorneys for Blake Lively and her former It Ends with Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni, whom she has accused of sexually harassing her during the film’s fraught production, met in federal court for the first time on Monday (Tuesday in Australia), amid their complex legal saga that has been subject to weeks of dissection by social media spectators.

Neither Lively nor Baldoni were in the New York court for the pre-trial conference, where Judge Lewis Liman advised their attorneys to avoid making statements in public that could prejudice the proceedings. If the parties try to litigate this case in the press, the judge said he has the ability to move up the trial, currently scheduled for March 2026.

Attorneys for both Lively and Baldoni emphasised in court the negative impact the case has had on their clients.

“My clients are devastated financially and emotionally,” Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman said, adding that his clients have suffered hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. He said they want the case to move forward quickly for the sake of their “future livelihood.”

Lively’s attorney Michael Gottlieb said the “retaliation campaign” by Baldoni’s team has been “devastating” for her.

“You’re not supposed to launch attacks on the other party’s character,” he said.

Gottlieb said he plans to file an amended complaint by February 14 that includes new claims and additional defendants.

In a statement after the hearing, Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, another one of Lively’s attorneys, said they were please with the results and “eager to move forward immediately with discovery in this case.”

“The Court granted our request that all attorneys in the matter actually follow the rule of law and not make any statements that could prejudice a jury,” they said. “This case deals with serious allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation. We will hold the defendants accountable, and we are confident that once all the evidence is submitted in this matter, Ms. Lively will prevail.”

CNN has reached out to Baldoni’s attorneys for comment.

Baldoni – a writer, director and producer who also built a brand around encouraging men to be better allies to women – and Lively have been in a legal battle that began in December, when Lively accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation in a complaint first filed with the California Civil Rights Department, preceding a civil lawsuit that followed about a week later.

Baldoni, meanwhile, has denied Lively’s allegations. Last month, he filed a lawsuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of civil extortion, defamation and invasion of privacy.

At the time, Lively’s lawyer’s told CNN in a statement that Baldoni’s suit “is another chapter in the abuser playbook. This is an age-old story: A woman speaks up with concrete evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation and the abuser attempts to turn the tables on the victim.”

The movie, from Sony Pictures, was released in August 2024 and grossed more than $US148 million (approx. $238 million) domestically. Based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel of the same name, It Ends With Us spotlights domestic violence in a couple, which was portrayed on-screen by Lively and Baldoni.

Both Baldoni and Lively provided in their suits text messages they say make their cases. Baldoni’s team also released video footage from the actors’ time working together and, over the weekend, published a website with his amended complaint and a timeline of the film’s production. Baldoni was also heard in an audio recording published by TMZ apologising to Lively, reportedly sent while they were working on the project.

CNN has not independently verified the text messages included in either Baldoni or Lively’s lawsuits, nor the audio recording.

Baldoni’s lawsuit claims that Lively, who is best known for her work on the CW’s Gossip Girl and in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants films, sought to take over much of the film’s creative direction, including having Reynolds re-write a scene to make “unauthorised changes to the script in secret.” (Reynolds had no formal role on It Ends With Us.)

The suit claims that Lively “summoned” Baldoni to the penthouse she shares with Reynolds in New York City for a meeting about the script, where Reynolds, along with a “megacelebrity friend” of the couple, praised Lively’s proposed revisions to the script.

One of the text messages included in Baldoni’s suit appears to show an exchange between Baldoni and Lively about her proposed script changes: “I really love what you did. It really does help a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor),” he wrote with a wink emoji.

While Baldoni’s text message does not include a last name for “Taylor,” Lively is close friends with the artist Taylor Swift. CNN previously reached out to representatives for Baldoni, Lively, Reynolds and Taylor Swift to inquire whether the “Taylor” mentioned in Baldoni’s text is, in fact, Swift.

In one of Lively’s text messages in Baldoni’s suit, the actress makes reference to her friends, stating, “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons.”

Both Lively and Baldoni claim in their lawsuits to have been the subject of retaliatory publicity campaigns by the other.

READ MORE: Bedtime habit you don’t realise is ruining your sleep

In Lively’s suit, she accuses Baldoni’s PR representatives of orchestrated attempts to hurt her reputation in the media as part of a “social manipulation campaign.”

In his suit, Baldoni refuted that claim, accusing Lively and Reynolds of “deploying their enormous power to steal an entire film right out of the hands of its director and production studio.” Further, the suit accuses Lively and her publicity team of creating a “smear campaign against Baldoni and Wayfarer to deflect attention” away from criticism Lively received during the press tour for It Ends With Us.

Baldoni has also sued the New York Times for $US250 million (approx. $401 million), accusing the newspaper of working alongside Lively’s team to publish a one-sided article that benefited Lively and contained doctored evidence.

The New York Times has denied Baldoni’s allegations and said it stands by its reporting.

READ MORE: The truth about the ‘5am club’ – is it all it’s cracked up to be?

The legal filings in this case are only part of the story. Representatives for Lively and Baldoni have continued to spar over the information being provided to the public outside of court.

Lively’s lawyers have accused Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, of making “misleading and selective” statements about Lively and her ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni, and previously asked the judge in their case for a hearing “to address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward.”

At Monday’s hearing (held on Tuesday in Australia), Gottlieb referenced the website Baldoni’s lawyer launched days ago, which contains documents pertaining to the legal battle.

Gottlieb said he did not have an issue with the website posting court filings, but expressed concern that potential evidence would be released to the public in a one-sided manner and create an “arms race to the media” over issues that should be resolved in court.

“It’s very hard to unring the bell if you don’t have any limitations,” he said.

Freedman said Lively’s team had “very pointedly used the press,” and pointed out that damage can occur before a jury even hears the case.

“That’s the reason why you both have sued,” Liman responded. “I get it. I get it.”

  • Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby get retro in The Fantastic Four trailer

Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby get retro in The Fantastic Four trailer

The first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has teased that the movie about the Marvel superhero team will be set in a retro futuristic world.

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie sees The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal reunite with his Gladiator II co-star Joseph Quinn, an English actor best known for Netflix hit Stranger Things, while English actress and Napoleon star Vanessa Kirby, and The Bear actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach join them in the superpowered line-up.

The first teaser sees Pascal as Reed Richards/the stretchy genius Mister Fantastic and Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman welcome a person to their base and home, The Baxter Building – a skyscraper that features a 1960s-style kitchen and living room design.

Pascal then says: “We make a point to do family dinner every week, Sunday at seven on the dot, no matter what, we’re all here.”

It also sees their origins explored, from when the astronauts were gifted special powers from cosmic radiation after going into space, and Moss-Bachrach as the rocky Ben Grimm/The Thing trying not to be seen in public, and interact with their robot Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-Type (Herbie).

The trailer later sees Pascal express concerns about “going up the first time” into space, and their gifts such as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Quinn) being able to go on fire, and Ben being rock-covered, while in bed with his partner Sue.

Sue responds, saying: “Ben has always been a rock, Johnny is Johnny, and I’m right here, whatever life throws at we’ll face it together, as a family.”

The final moments of the clip introduce evil giant space creature Galactus, who eats planets, and is played by British actor and Game Of Thrones star Ralph Ineson, as well as two-time Oscar nominated actor John Malkovich in an undisclosed role as a bearded man.

Kirby recently starred as Josephine in Sir Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, and is known for her Oscar-nominated role in the film Pieces Of A Woman, and her Bafta-winning portrayal as Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon in Netflix royal drama The Crown.

Chilean-American actor Pascal has played grumpy survivor Joel Miller in dystopian series The Last Of Us, and the title character The Mandalorian in the Disney+ Star Wars show about a bounty hunter that saves a green child called Grogu.

A previous Fantastic Four film came out in 1994, followed by a reboot in 2005 starring Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis.

They all returned in 2007 for Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, in which they learned they were not the only superpowered beings in the universe.

In 2015, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B Jordan and Jamie Bell starred in another Fantastic Four movie, and animated TV series based on the comics have aired throughout the years.

The new film will be in cinemas on July 25, according to Marvel Studios.

  • Michael Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan arrested for an alleged string of crimes

Michael Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan arrested for an alleged string of crimes

Marcus Jordan was sent to jail in the US state of Florida at the beginning of the week on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, possessing an illegal drug, and resisting arrest

Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, has been arrested over an alleged string of crimes including drugs possession and resisting arrest.

The 34-year-old businessman was thrown behind bars in Orlando, Florida, on Monday – and looked far from amused when told to pose for a mugshot. He was held at Orange County Jail in the sunshine state after being arrested for allegedly Driving Under the Influence, cocaine possession and resisting arrest.

Marcus is a former college basketball player who played for the UCF Knights men’s basketball team – having followed in the footsteps of his famous father, Michael Jordan, 61. Marcus is the basketball legend’s second child with wife Juanita Vanoy, who Michael was married to 1989 until 2002.

After hanging up his basketball vest, Marcus has made a name for himself by founding and running the high-end sneaker store the Trophy Room. And he waded into the world of reality TV last year when he featured as a contestant on the second season of the American version of The Traitors – which populates the show with Z list celebrities instead of members of the public.

However, it seems Marcus may be far from faithful when it comes to the law, as he has been accused of a number of crimes. Documents obtained by the Mirror state that on February 4, Marcus was arrested for resisting officer without violence as well as possession of cocaine. Meanwhile, further documents state that he was jailed on the same day.

TMZ reported: “Marcus Jordan was thrown behind bars on Monday for allegedly committing a series of serious crimes.” And they added: “[He] was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail in Orlando, Florida for DUI, cocaine possession and resisting arrest, according to police records.”

PageSix also reported on the arrest – adding that bail “has been set at $4,000 (£3,200)”. His case – The State of Florida vs Jordan, Marcus James, remains open. The Mirror has contacted representatives of Marcus for comment. Ahead of his reported arrest, Marcus appeared in a reflective mood as he shared a string of photographs of his father via social media. He also sent a seemingly prophetic post on X where he wrote: “Only sorry cuz I was movin’ too fast,” alongside a speeding car emoji.

Fans reacted to this message which now appears to have aged rather badly. One reacted to the post, writing: “We hope you get some help soon Marcus.” While another replied with a gif of Alanis Morissette singing her iconic 1996 song, Ironic.

Last year, Marcus was among the cast of the American version of The Traitors – which saw him competing alongside other celebrities including Love Island contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and former Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow. While he played as a member of the faithfuls, Marcus was killed off by the Traitors after just three episodes – while the season was won by reality stars CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella, who had both appeared in versions of The Real World.

  • Civil lawsuit: Author ‘raped’ woman

    Civil lawsuit: Author ‘raped’ woman

Warning: This article discusses sexual assault which might be triggering for some readers.

A best-selling author has been sued for sexual assault by his former New Zealand live-in nanny just weeks after multiple women came out to accuse him of rape.

Neil Gaiman, famous for his fantasy series that birthed several hit TV shows, has been accused of “violently raping” his family’s former nanny in a bombshell new claim.

The lawsuits, filed on Monday local time in Wisconsin federal court, brings claims for sexual assault, battery and human trafficking.

New Zealand woman Scarlett Pavlovich has alleged that Gaiman coerced her into forced sexual encounters with him as a condition of her employment by the family.

Gaiman has denied all allegations against him.

The 64-year-old responded to the shock claims back in January by saying he has “never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever”.

However, it is alleged that the writer has a “decades-long history of sexual misconduct” as alleged by several women, many of whom have signed nondisclosure agreements, the complaint says.

Pavlovich alleges that she was homeless and living on a beach when she met Gaiman’s wife, Amanda Palmer in Auckland, New Zealand, back in 2020. She was 22 years old at the time.

She reportedly soon began running errands for the couple, babysitting their son and helping with chores, but the lawsuit stated that she was “generally not paid for these tasks”.

She was first asked to babysit in February 2022 and Gaiman allegedly sexually assaulted her the night they met, according to the lawsuits that also said the couple were separated at the time.

This night is when the lawsuit claims Gaiman allegedly penetrated Pavlovich anally with his fingers and then attempted to do so with his penis, according to Rolling Stone.

In another incident, the suit alleges Gaiman anally raped her “while smearing her with truffle oil,” despite her “screaming ‘I can’t’ and ‘no’ at the start of the encounter.”

While the assaults continued, she kept working for the couple because she was “broke and homeless”, the lawsuit claims, and Gaiman told her he would help her writing career.

The lawsuit alleges that Gaiman’s wife Palmer knew of his sexual desires and presented Pavlovich to him knowing he would assault her.

Pavlovich alleges the couple violated federal human trafficking prohibitions and is seeking at least $7 million in damages.

She publicly identified herself earlier this year in an interview with New York Magazine, which detailed eight women’s allegations of assault, abuse and coercion against Gaiman.

After it was published, Gaiman released a statement denying he had ever engaged in non-consensual sex.

Back in January, eight women came forward with accusations against him.

The popular English writer is known for The Sandman, American Gods and the children’s book Coraline as well as co-writing Good Omens alongside Terry Pratchett in 1990

The show went on to become a hit BBC and Amazon TV series with Gaiman acting as the writer and executive producer.

But after a bombshell report released in New York Magazine detailed a number of shock claims against the Brit which span back to 1986 production on the third season of the show was axed.

One allegation included a woman who accused Gaiman of raping her in a bathtub outside.

In a blog post, the popular author said he had read the allegations and felt “horror and dismay”.

He wrote: “I’ve stayed quiet until now, both out of respect for the people who were sharing their stories and out of a desire not to draw even more attention to a lot of misinformation.

“I’ve always tried to be a private person, and felt increasingly that social media was the wrong place to talk about important personal matters.

“I’ve now reached the point where I feel that I should say something.

“As I read through this latest collection of accounts, there are moments I half-recognise and moments I don’t, descriptions of things that happened sitting beside things that emphatically did not happen.

“I’m far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”

Gaiman said he had read back text messages from the time of one of the assaults and felt they were “of two people enjoying entirely consensual sexual relationship”.

He added that he “could have and should have done so much better” and realised he hadn’t been as “thoughtful” as he would have liked looking back.

He continued: “I was obviously careless with people’s hearts and feelings, and that’s something that I really, deeply regret.

“It was selfish of me. I was caught up in my own story and I ignored other people’s.

“Like most of us, I’m learning, and I’m trying to do the work needed, and I know that that’s not an overnight process.”

The author said he understood that “not everyone will believe me”.

Gaiman vehemently denies several of the allegations claiming they “simply never happened”.

Others had been “distorted” from reality, he added.

Gaiman did not go into detail into which accusations he was referring to.

The New York Magazine report released on Monday detailed the allegations which ranged from rape to hitting one accuser with a belt.

All eight of the accusers said they had been willing to engage with many of Gaiman’s requests – one of which often included calling him “master”, according to the report.

But the women allege that during some acts they had removed their consent before or during.

Some also said they had not discussed or agreed on the acts and scenarios Gaiman wanted before they happened, claims the report.

Several of these allegations were first revealed on the Tortoise podcast which is hosted by journalist and broadcaster Rachel Johnson.

Gaiman’s representatives had previously told Tortoise Media that “sexual degradation, bondage, domination, sadism and masochism may not be to everyone’s taste, but between consenting adults, BDSM is lawful”.

A police report accusing Gaiman of sexual assault was made in January 2023, but the investigation was eventually dropped.

‘Deep concern’: Sandra Bullock issues rare statement

Sandra Bullock has released a rare statement warning fans who might be targeted by scammers.

In a statement to PEOPLE on Monday, the Oscar winner said that she feels “deep concern” that her likeness is being used to exploit vulnerable people on social media.

In the statement, she explained: “My family’s safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter.”

“Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me,” added the Hollywood star.

Bullock’s stark warning comes after her younger sister, Gesine, took to social media on Sunday to reveal that people were pretending to be her on Facebook.

“When I report, I also report to a security service that gives the account addresses directly to a Meta employee,” she wrote.

She claimed that the “accounts are run by crime rings” that “also run fake groups where a fake me posts ‘official statements.’” “I’m a grown middle-aged woman with a life and I don’t troll around at 54 DMing people,” she added.

Gesine continued: “If you see a fake account, are friended or messaged by one, report and block. The only reason I stay on FB is to monitor this for my own knowledge so I am aware of the danger coming at me (and yes, because of these scams, I’ve had to involve local law enforcement and they’ve been outstanding).”

She added: “Strangely, Insta handles these things, and even informs me when someone creates an account that may be an impostor. But FB? Same company with same tech? Can’t be bothered.”

Scammers posing as celebrities has become a major problem on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Last year, a woman in France was scammed for millions of dollars by a fraudulent account that was claiming to be run by Hollywood legend and Bullock’s pal, Brad Pitt.

The woman believed that she was dating Pitt and that he was in need of money to help pay for medical care.

‘The Goonies’ Cast Reunites After 40 Years to Celebrate Ke Huy Quan at His Hand and Footprint Ceremony in L.A.

The Goonies cast came together to support one of their own for a very special occasion. On Monday, Feb. 3, Ke Huy Quan was honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.

On deck for the celebration was the 1985 film’s screenwriter Chris Columbus and costars Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green and Josh Brolin. The group posed together for a number of sentimental and silly photos.

Brolin also spoke at the event, “You’re truly one of the last existences of the American dream. Ke Huy Quan … I won’t say much but that after The Goonies, I too lived in the ethers of our business for 19 years. The only difference is I was still chipping away at leftovers and trading stocks full time while you pursued a whole other profession and excelled in it famously,” he shared.

“You have that Midas touch, my friend, and you have it because you have that heart of gold that you always have,” Brolin continued.

“As far back as 40 years it’s been, I was 16 years old. You were a spritely 13. I remember your family having the same heart-driven, totally inclusive disposition, always welcoming, always with open arms.”

“I could not be happier for you. I know we all are, all us Goonies here for an honor that is not only totally deserved but celebrates all that is right in this industry,” he concluded.

When jokes about an on-screen reunion flew, Quan was emphatic about being ready to get back into Data’s world anytime.

“I love that movie so much. It’s one of the greatest adventures of my life,” he said. “I would be so happy to revisit that character and, of course, go on another Goonies adventure with my fellow Goonies, that would be amazing!”
